With really just a little effort, an e-book becomes an annotated study guide:

E-books can make our children smarter.  If we, the first generation of e-book instructors, go about it correctly.

With really just a little effort, an e-book becomes an annotated study guide:

  • E-readers have built-in dictionaries; just one double-click and the information is right there.
  • E-readers provide quick access to online resources, to help out with historic figures and terms. Students are much more likely to get the background info they need to understand what's going on if they can do it without getting out of their chair.
  • You can highlight passages in a variety of colors and change your mind about highlighting.
  • You can make notes -- as many and as lengthy as you like, which can't be done with a paper-and-ink book.
  • You can copy and paste notes from online sources;
  • Your notes are organized and easily accessible from a tab at the beginning of the e-book, organized by date. .
  • You can use the e-reader's search feature to refresh your memory on characters and places and quotations.

With really just a little effort, an e-book becomes an annotated study guide that students have at their fingertips basically 24-7 and for the balance of their academic career.
