The Word "Movie"

Even if all you can afford is a still digital camera, you can still have a lot of fun with moviemaking...

Windows Movie Maker works great for stop-motion!

Movies made with WMM can be exported in formats that can be uploaded to YouTube, a fantastic draw for teens. It is literally possible to start a career with these simple tools and the power of YouTube.

To make your life easier when creating stop-motion style movies, be sure to change the picture duration rate before you import the pictures -- the instructions for this are on the lesson plan.

With Movie Maker, you can also add music and narration.

Lesson Plan

Adobe Fireworks is the best software for making animated .gif's -- if you can afford it, it's extremely versatile - its drawing tools are unmatched, in my opinion.

Lesson Plan
Adobe Photoshop can be used to create animations by using a new layer for each picture and exporting as animation. I don't have a lesson plan for this exact process, but if you'll look at the morphing caricature lesson plan, it'll give you a head start.

Video From ScreenCapture:

uTipu - great, free screen capture program that outputs to video that can be uploaded to YouTube. Great for you, for making tutorials, and great for kids, who want to show off their skills; if you check YouTube, you'll find kids who have posted video that they've narrarated of gameplay -- could be fun. Here's a tutorial:

iClone by Reallusion is what I use for the talking AuntLee. It has a no-expiration demo with limited functionality that's nonetheless a lot of fun. It has pretty steep video card & RAM requirements, so you'll need newer computers, but it might be worth checking out. http://www.reallusion.com/iclone/ic_trial.asp
CrazyTalk by Reallusion is what I use for the talking HappiLee puppy. It's around $50, but that cost permits you to load the software on 5 computers, which makes it pretty cheap.. http://www.reallusion.com/crazytalk/
