Download from YouTube
I've used Zamzar, because it permits you to download in .wmv format, which will reliably work with Windows Movie Maker.
Either you or the teen will need to download the video you want in advance - Zamzar sends you a link with to download, but it can take several hours. |

Windows Movie Maker
Working with video is much the same as working with stills, except easier, because you don't have to pre-set the picture duration rate. |

More Ideas:
Teens can make simple changes to existing videos, add titles and special effects.
"Mash-Ups" - more challenging is combining two videos, either separate entities, or the same performance of one song, into one piece. |
|
|
Another, easier way to do this is to put different music onto a video, like the Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz classic. |

|
The easiest way to teach video editing with Windows Movie Maker is to contract me to teach -- I bring a DVD with over 3 gig of video teens love, in the correct format, that you get to keep! |
