Just let your kids download sports themed pictures and then insert their pictures into them. We used a photographer's bluescreen as a backdrop, but a big sheet will work almost as well.
There are hundreds of fun variations -- put the children's pictures on the moon, at the pyramids, inside a pulmonary artery a la Fantastic Voyage...
